Booking FAQs

 

Do I need to make a booking to use the club?

A booking is strongly encouraged, as it will guarantee you a spot to access the club during that booking period

 

What is a booking period?

Each booking is for 1 hour. The hour commences at the start of the booking time and concludes 60 mins after that.

Example 1 - You are booked in for 8 pm, and scan in at 8 pm. You will have access to the club until 9 pm.

Example 2 - You are booked in for 8 pm, but scan in at 8:20 pm. You will have access to the club until 9 pm.

 

Are there any booking limitations?

Booking limitations are in place to make sure every member gets a fair go in accessing the club. Bookings are available up to 7 days in advance. You may only make one booking a day.

 

What if I arrive earlier than my booking time?

Your admission will be subject to availability.

Example 1 - You are booked in for 5 pm and scanned in at 4:30 pm. At 4:30 pm, the club is not at capacity. You may start training earlier from 4:30 pm and finish up at 6 pm (the original end time of your booking).

Example 2 - You are booked in for 5 pm and scanned in at 4:30 pm. At 4:30 pm, the club is at capacity. You will have to return at 5 pm to start your workout because you will not be allowed to wait in the club. You will have 5 pm to 6 pm to train, as per your original booking.

 

May I stay past my allotted booking period?

In the interest of fairness and enabling the club to be more accessible to all members, you may not stay past your allotted booking period. Any availability past your booking period should remain available to last minute bookings and walk-ins.

 

May I train more than once a day?

No. In order for there to be enough availability for everyone you may only train once per day.

Do I have to book at my home club?

Yes, as part of our Covid Safe Reopening plan members must only visit their home club. Not sure which one is your home club? Click here to send us an email and we'll let you know 

 

 

 

Can I just walk in without a booking?

Yes, you can, but your admission will be subject to availability at that time. You’ll be automatically booked into the system if there is a spot available, but you may not be able to stay for up to an hour depending on when you scan in. Your training time will be limited to the corresponding booking period you scanned in to.

Example 1 - You have no booking but walk in at 6 am. There is a spot available at 6 am. The system automatically books you in and you can train until 7 am.

Example 2 - You have no booking but walk in at 6:35 am. There is a spot available at 6:35 am. The system automatically books you in and you can train until 7 am.

Example 3 - You have no booking but walk in at 6 am. There are no spots available at 6 am. You will have to come again another time as you will not be allowed to wait in the club, and perhaps make a booking to secure a spot.

Do I need to download an app to make bookings?

An iOS and Android app is available, but you do not need these to make bookings. You can make bookings through the website if you do not have the app.

 

How do I make changes to my bookings?

You can log in to the app or the member portal to make changes to your bookings.

 

How much notice do I need to provide if I want to change a booking?

You can reschedule or cancel your booking up to 2 hours before the booking time without incurring a strike. If you make any changes in less than 2 hours before your booking time, you will incur a strike.

 

What happens if I don’t turn up for my booking?

You will incur a strike.

 

What is a strike?

You will incur a strike if you cancel your booking less than 2 hours before your booking time, or if you don’t show up to your booking. Once you have accumulated 3 strikes, you will not be able to make a booking for the next 7 days (after your third strike). In this instance, you may still be able to access the club without a booking, but it will be subject to availability.

Do I need to be a member to book?

Yes, only members will be able to book a session. We are currently not offering casual visits. If you would like to find out more about our memberships please click here

What do I need to bring to the gym?

You must bring a sweat towel, water bottle and face mask.

 

Do I need to wear a mask?

According to government guidelines

If you are doing exercise or physical activity where you are out of breath or puffing, such as jogging or running, you do not need to wear a face mask. You do have to carry a face mask with you so you can wear it before or after exercising.*

Can I train with a friend?

Yes, you may train with a friend. 

 

Can someone spot me while I'm training?

Yes, you can ask one of our staff or a fellow gym member to spot you while completing any heavy lifts. It is recommended that the spotter wear a facemask while doing so. 

 

What is Dukes Gym doing to prevent the spread of Covid-19?
